Scaling pixel art in regular layers is pretty straightforward with the “Free Transform” (Ctrl+T / Command+T) by setting the Interpolation to “Nearest Neighbor”. When using Smart Objects, the Free Transform doesn’t show the Interpolation setting for some reason. If you try to scale your pixel art Smart Object, it will use a Bilinear interpolation making your art all blurry and fuzzy.

Apparently, Photoshop has a single setting to determine the scaling interpolation globally across the application. You can change this setting by going to Preferences > General > Image Interpolation. Changing this from “Bilinear” (default) to “Nearest Neighbor” will allow you to scale Smart Objects without it become blurry.

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

429,1079,255
2317,2318,434,2128,2145,2146,2219,2308,2309,2310,2311,2312,2313,2314,2315,2316
post-3955","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-design","category-how-to-fix-stuff","category-technology","tag-interpolation","tag-blur","tag-adobe","tag-pixel","tag-transform","tag-tool","tag-photoshop","tag-smart-objects","tag-smart","tag-objects","tag-free-transform","tag-scale","tag-nearest","tag-neighbor","tag-nearest-neighbor","tag-bilinear
["GET
